2020 Dutchess County 4-H Market Animal Online Auction Bidding closes Sunday, August 30th at Noon with a soft close. Soft close means that if a bid is placed on a lot with less than 5 minutes left, the bidding will be extended by 5 miuntes. How are animals sold? 1. Steers, sheep and hogs, will sell by the pound. 2. Rabbits, poultry, and goats will sell by the unit. Now that I bought, what do I do? 1. Once the animal is sold, it becomes the sole responsibility of the buyer. The committee, the seller, and the fair cannot be held responsible. 2. Trucking of the sold animal to a designated slaughtering facility will be provided. Trucking to other locations is the responsibility of the buyer. 3. The buyer is responsible for the cost of slaughtering and processing (cutting, wrapping and smoking). Please be prepared to pay the bill when your meat is delivered. 4. Buyers may send purchased animals to our designated meat processor, donate them back for resale, resell them to a third party or take them home. Special note: If it is your desire to retain the live animal or send it to another processor a decision needs to be made immediately upon purchase and the sale chair needs to be contacted immediately. Also, the buyer must contact the seller within 24 hours to arrange pick-up. APPROXIMATE PROCESSING COSTS All meats will be wrapped in freezer grade paper and labeled with cut name. PORK Processing Fee Cut & Wrap, $1.50 lb. / Smoking (loins) $1.50 lb. Slaughter only $70.00 LAMB & GOAT Processing Fee Cut & Wrap, $120.00 Flat rate BEEF Slaughter Fee, $100.00 / Processing Fee, $.80 lb. hanging weight, cut & wrap POULTRY Turkey - $12.00 Chickens - $5.00 RABBIT Processing Fee, Cut & Wrap, $5.00 each AGAIN THIS YEAR The Livestock Sale Committee has chosen Malafy’s Meat Processing, LLC for the beef, hogs, rabbits, goats and lambs. Old Hibernia Farm, LLC will be taking the poultry. Please watch for more information!
